Are you ready to be part of the action and make the Games unforgettable? Join the Venue Management Team and help bring the energy, coordination, and excellence that make each venue shine!
As a member of this team, you’ll be assigned to a specific sports venue during Games time, where your leadership and teamwork will ensure everything runs smoothly. You’ll be the glue that holds it all together—working closely with other teams, solving problems on the fly, and keeping the show on the road.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Pre-Games: Get trained, plan and collaborate with other teams to prepare your venue for success.
• During the Games: Execute the venue plan, manage operations, and be the go-to person for resolving issues.
• Leadership: Support the Core Venue Team and act as the main escalation point when challenges arise.

Why It Matters
• This isn’t just a volunteer role—it’s a key management position. You’ll be making real-time decisions, leading others, and ensuring the Games experience is safe, smooth, and spectacular for everyone.

Time Commitment - Venue Management Teams

  • Monthly meetings with other Core Venue Team members (will require more meetings closer to Games)

  • Training/Information sessions (Saturdays)

  • Time each week for tasks, calls, emails etc.

  • Full availability 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st June 2026

Be the captain of your venue!
As Venue Manager, you’ll lead a dynamic team to bring the venue plan to life. You’ll be the go-to person for all decisions and the key contact for the Facility Liaison. Your leadership will set the tone, energize the team, and ensure everything runs like clockwork.

What you’ll do: Lead, motivate, and manage your venue team; make final decisions; liaise with the facility.

Why it matters: You’re the anchor—your leadership ensures the venue delivers excellence.

Lead the charge in delivering a top-class sports experience at the Games.

What you’ll do:

As Competition Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the action—planning, coordinating, and delivering the sports competition from start to finish.

Before the Games:

- Develop the competition section of the venue operating plan

- Create initial divisions from entry forms and build the competition schedule

- Identify and organise all sport-specific equipment

- Assign volunteers to roles across the field of play

During the Games:

- Brief field-of-play volunteers each morning

- Oversee equipment setup and sign off on the field of play

- Chair daily Head Coaches meetings

- Monitor athlete check-ins and update heat sheets and schedules as needed

- Ensure official results are accurately recorded in GMS

- Lead divisioning and make decisions on delays or postponements (with the Venue Manager)

- Chair the Jury of Sport committee if convened.

Do you have a keen eye for detail and a calm, practical approach to problem-solving? Join us as a Safety Officer and play a vital role in keeping our venues safe, secure, and running smoothly.

This is a key management role where your input will help shape the safety experience for everyone—from athletes and volunteers to spectators and staff.

What you’ll do

Before the Games: Prepare a venue-specific risk assessment, identifying potential hazards and planning how to manage them.

During the Games: Stay vigilant throughout the day, keeping an eye on the venue and responding quickly to any safety concerns.

Use your judgement: Apply a common-sense approach to safety—balancing rules with practical decision-making to keep things running smoothly.

Support the team: Advise the Venue Manager and Core Venue Team on safety matters and help ensure compliance with safety standards.

Why It Matters - Your role is essential to creating a safe and enjoyable environment. You’ll be the calm, confident presence that helps everyone feel secure and supported.

Champion safety and peace of mind!
As a member of the Venue Management Team, you will play a crucial role in shaping a safe, and accessible venue for everyone involved. This dynamic volunteer position gives you responsibility for key functions such as Safety, Crowd Management, Access Control, Pedestrian flows, and Venue Traffic Management. You will oversee the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians, ensure clear access and exit routes at all times. 

Additionally, you will take the lead in developing and coordinating the Venue Emergency Response Plan (VERP), empowering your team to respond effectively and confidently to an emergency if required. From dining to downtime—your leadership makes it happen

As the Accommodation Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the delegations’ experience at the Games, leading the execution of policies, procedures and standards for accommodation operations. This is a dynamic, people-focused role where you will guide and inspire a dedicated team, overseeing key functions such as dinner services, front desk services and athlete entertainment. Join our accommodation team to make a real impact and contribute to an unforgettable Games experience.

Create the wow factor!
You’ll be the friendly face of the venue, making sure everything from guest services to volunteer support runs smoothly. You’ll assist with role queries, check-ins, and making sure everyone is where they need to be. Your team will be the support network to every volunteer in each venue. If you love people and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this is your stage.

What you’ll do: Oversee media, guests, volunteer management and info services; lead with warmth and professionalism.

Why it matters: You shape the first impression—your team sets the tone for every visitor.

Be the eyes, ears, and helping hands of the Games!
You will oversee a team responsible for directing delegations and spectators, ensuring efficient access, effective traffic management, and optimal crowd flows. When necessary, you'll carry out emergency procedures with assistance from fellow managers. If you like supporting others and ensuring everything goes off without a hitch, this opportunity is for you.

What you’ll do: Implement the spectator services plan; manage pedestrian flow and access; support volunteers.

Make a real difference by helping create a safe and welcoming environment for everyoneat the Games.

This person will have lead responsibility for safeguarding and must have attended Safeguarding 2 (ROI) or Designated Safeguarding Children's Officer (DSCO) (NI). 

What you’ll do: As the Safeguarding Officer, you’ll be a key member of the venue management team. Before the Games begin, you’ll assess the venue for any safeguarding risks and work closely with the Triage Group to address concerns. During the Games, you’ll brief volunteers and coaches on safeguarding procedures, act as the main point of contact for any safeguarding issues, and ensure all concerns are properly recorded and reported.

Why it matters: Your role is vital in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all participants. By being proactive and responsive, you help create a secure space where athletes, volunteers, and spectators can thrive.

Master of logistics and backstage brilliance!

From load in to tear-down, you’ll manage all the behind-the-scenes magic. If you’re a problem-solver who loves making things work, this role is for you.

What you’ll do: Coordinate lunch services, logistics, signage, sound, cleaning, and more.

Why it matters: You keep the engine running—your work ensures everything is in place and on time.

Working with both our GOC planners and your Venue Management Team; Coordinators will look after a specific functional area within each venue.

Be the friendly face that welcomes teams and solves challenges

This role is responsible for overseeing the check-in and check-out process for delegations, including room key handover and ensuring a smooth arrival experience. Prior to the Games, the coordinator will review room assignments to guarantee they align with any additional support requirements. During the event, they will continue to support delegations by managing any issues as they arise and ensuring effective communication between venue staff.

Plan the Fun, Spark the Joy!

If you enjoy planning fun activities or have a knack for organising entertainment, this is your moment to get involved! Help make our athletes’ evenings special by arranging movie nights, discos, or relaxed options like board games and quiet spaces to unwind.

Celebrate Achievements and Create Memories!
Organise and present awards to athletes, making their achievements truly special. You’ll brief other volunteers and assist with ceremonies to ensure everything runs smoothly. If you love celebrating success and want to be part of unforgettable moments, this is the role for you.

Fuelling athletes for success, one meal at a time

Take the lead in coordinating with the accommodation venue’s in-house catering company to ensure every delegation member enjoys a warm, delicious dinner at their accommodation venue.  Your role is to keep the rolling dinner service running smoothly so everyone is served promptly, while also making sure all dietary needs are carefully met. If you thrive in lively environments and enjoy making sure people are well looked after, this is the perfect opportunity for you! You will also coordinate a ‘box breakfast’ service, ensuring supplies are delivered to each apartment for the delegations to self-cater their breakfast. 

This role does not require any cooking or food preparation duties. F&B or hospitality experience is helpful but not required.

Ensure Horses Are Arena-Ready – Be Part of the Action

The stable management coordinator is responsible for the smooth running of the stable, ensuring the horses are correctly tacked and ready when needed in the arena. They will work with all sports field of play assistants (leaders & side walkers) and existing venue staff.

Keeping the Games on Track, One Piece at a Time 

The Equipment Coordinator will work with the Competition Manager to ensure that all necessary sports equipment is itemised and in place prior to the start of the competition each day. They will also take note of any damaged equipment and report into the Competition Manager if anything needs to be replaced.

Where Precision Meets Performance

As Field of Play Coordinator, you’ll make sure the competition area is ready for peak performance! You’ll oversee set-up, ensure the right athletes are on the field, manage equipment needs, monitor access, and ensure volunteers are briefed and in place. Your attention to detail and leadership will keep the event running smoothly and create an amazing experience for athletes and spectators alike. Managing Data and Driving Results!

The Games Management System Coordinator is responsible for the smooth operation of the results, schedules and data inputting for their assigned sport. They will work under the direction of the Competition Manager when producing the final divisions for competition as well as ensuring the schedules are maintained and up to date. They will also produce the results throughout the competition in their venue ensuring that all paperwork is processed and filed and available when needed by the competition team.

Fit Feet helps Special Olympics athletes step lively on the playing field, and in everyday life. Many athletes suffer from foot and ankle pain, or deformities that impair their performance. 

Suitable volunteers: Qualified Podiatrist or Chiropodist

FUNfitness provides athletes the opportunity to be screened for flexibility of hamstring, calf, shoulder rotator and hip flexor muscles; functional strength of the abdominal and lower extremity muscles; balance and fitness

Suitable volunteers: Qualified and experienced Physiotherapist

In addition to health education activities, Health Promotion offers screenings for bone density, blood pressure, and body mass index (BMI). Its goals include encouraging and enhancing healthy behaviours 

Suitable volunteers: Experienced Health/Exercise/Sports Science professional, Nutritionist, Dietician

The main goals of this program are to inform athletes, parents, coaches or caregivers about the detection of possible ear and hearing problems, recommend follow-up as needed, and to promote the necessity of regular ear and hearing screenings.

Suitable volunteers: Audiologists, ENT. 

stations, the exam information is reviewed, and a decision is made if the athlete needs a new pair of prescription glasses or sport goggles. Through the generosity of our corporate sponsors Essilor (lenses) and Safilo (frames), athletes choose from a selection of eye wear. Athletes who do not need any corrective lenses receive plano sunglasses also provided by Safilo.

Suitable Volunteers: To be eligible for this role you must be either an Optometrist or Optician 

Special Smiles has demonstrated remarkable success in creating awareness and improving access to dental care for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Suitable volunteers: Qualified Dentist

Strong Minds is an interactive learning activity focused on helping our athletes to develop and learn adaptive coping skills. 

Suitable volunteers: To be eligible for this role you must be either a Psychotherapist/Psychologist/Psychiatrist

The right gear, the right place, the right time—lead the way!

Help manage the delivery and distribution of equipment and supplies to your venues. You’ll work within the Operations team to keep everything organised and running smoothly. Please note that this role involves manual handling and requires a reasonable level of physical fitness. If you enjoy being active and don’t mind some hands-on work, this could be a great fit for you!

Help keep everyone fuelled for greatness.

Serve as the on-site coordinator at a venue, organising the distribution of packed lunches and snacks to athletes, coaches, and volunteers, working alongside your operations volunteers. Please note this role does not involve food preparation!  If you’re organised and enjoy behind-the-scenes work, this is an excellent way to contribute. 

Create the Soundtrack of the Games!

As Sound Production Coordinator, you will help manage announcements, music, and awards ceremony support. You will work with the GOC Sound Production Team to develop a plan for your venue, and to allocate and manage the radio systems, ensuring all users are supported and the systems run smoothly during the Games. You’ll help create a fun and energetic atmosphere at every venue. If you love music, technology or communications this is your chance to shine!

Love sports and paperwork. 

Be the heartbeat of the competition! As the go-to person for coaches and event updates, you’ll make sure everything runs smoothly—from athlete check-in to posting results and handling the process for sports protests. You’ll keep the energy high and the information flowing, helping athletes and coaches focus on what matters most: sport!  Join us and play a key role in creating an unforgettable event experience. Your organisation and enthusiasm will make all the difference!

Want to keep the competition running like clockwork? 

Step into a leadership role at the heart of the action! As Staging Coordinator, you’ll ensure athletes move smoothly to and from the staging area, so the competition stays on schedule. You’ll brief and support volunteers, oversee set-up, assign roles, and keep everything flowing throughout the day.

You are organised and calm under pressure will make a huge impact—helping athletes shine and creating an unforgettable experience for everyone. Join us and be the driving force behind a seamless competition!

Be the Go-To Source for Information!

As the Volunteer Venue Coordinator, you’re a crucial part of our volunteer team. With more than 2,500 volunteers making the Games happen, you’ll help manage check-ins at your venue, point volunteers in the right direction, and help keep everyone’s spirits up. Your support will make sure all our volunteers feel welcome and valued, helping to make the Games a success for everyone.

Before the Games: You’ll look after the volunteer lists for your venue, making sure everything’s up to date and sharing all the info volunteers need. You’ll work closely with the Front of House Manager to keep track of who’s on what assignment, sort out any dropouts or new additions, and make sure everyone’s in the right place. If volunteers have questions, you’re their go-to person and you’ll help whenever they need it in the run-up to the Games.

During the Games: You’ll oversee signing volunteers in and out, and you’ll keep the Front of House Manager in the loop about who’s there. If volunteers have questions or need a hand, you’re one of the people they’ll come to.
